Biological Science Technician

As a Biological Science Technician, your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists in the planning and implementation of tasks associated with the ecology, conservation and population trends for the listing and recovery of candidate species salt-marsh sparrow. Serves on the Species Status Assessment team with other stations and Service divisions. Performs surveys, nest searches, nest monitoring, mist netting, banding, tagging and data collection, of salt-marsh sparrow and piping plover. Identifies and monitors salt marsh vegetation using established protocols. Deploys water loggers to monitor water levels and uses RTK technology to monitor elevation. Analyzes, constructs, and maintains status data to inform managers about migration timing and pathways on refuge salt-marsh sparrows. Captures and applies field bands and nanotags to salt-marsh sparrow. Analyzes vegetation, elevation, and water level data. This position has a Selective Placement Factor; if you do not meet this Factor, you will not receive further consideration. Applicants must possess a current Federal Bird Banding permit with authorization to affix auxiliary markers on semi-palmated sandpipers and salt marsh sparrows. You must submit a copy of your Federal Bird Banding permit with your application. If you do not have this permit or do not include a copy with your application, you will not receive further consideration. In order to meet the minimum qualification requirement for this position, you must possess one of the following:
A. I have successfully completed at least one year (18 semester hours) of graduate education directly related to the work of the position. (You must provide a copy of your college transcripts). B. I possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
Experience in the ecology and nest and habitat monitoring of salt marsh sparrows; leading lower graded staff with wildlife censuses and surveys; conducting salt marsh habitat data collection using standard field techniques; assisting with the implementation of wildlife studies or surveys; attending meetings with land owners, sports groups and local governments; entering scientific data into standardized databases and conducting A/QC on those data; summarizing data for inclusion in scientific reports; developing databases and analyzing data using standard statistical methods. C. I possess an appropriate combination of GS-06 level specialized experience as shown in B. above and graduate level education, which meets 100% of the qualification requirements (You must provide a copy of your college transcripts).

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
